This case involved a patient suffering from severe bilateral corneal opacity, resulting in significant visual impairment and reduced quality of life. The patient presented with markedly compromised corneal clarity in both eyes, which limited vision and daily functioning.
After detailed clinical evaluation and appropriate preoperative assessment, penetrating keratoplasty (corneal transplantation) was planned and performed for both eyes in a staged manner. The surgical approach aimed at replacing the damaged corneal tissue with healthy donor corneal grafts in order to restore corneal transparency and improve visual potential.
The postoperative period was carefully monitored with regular follow-up visits to assess graft clarity, healing, and visual rehabilitation. With proper postoperative care and adherence to treatment protocols, the patient achieved significant improvement in corneal clarity and visual function.
The patient expressed satisfaction with the outcome, reporting improved visual comfort and daily activity performance.
Outcome:
This case highlights the importance of timely surgical intervention, careful postoperative management, and patient compliance in achieving favorable outcomes in complex corneal diseases.
